Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (Cidriz)
Reports to Operations Manager. The incumbent is responsible for personal adherence to all laboratory policies and procedures to ensure high quality of work in their section. The supervisor is a key member of the laboratory management team who provides first level quality management and quality oversight at bench level. The supervisor will be accountable for all aspects of quality performance/quality management for their section and will be held to a high standard of performance in his/her duties.
Main duties
- Writes equipment SOPs, quality SOPs and testing SOPs for Hematology and Flow Cytometry section
- Reviews/updates all existing policies, procedures and logs and ensure only current policies, procedures and logs are available and in use in their section
- Conducts training for bench staff on both new and revised policies and procedures and ensure such training is well documented
- Performs daily supervisor review of all QC records and logs as well as equipment maintenance records and logs
- Ensures that corrective action for all QC and equipment failures have been documented and corrective actions reviewed by the supervisor daily
- Documents corrective action for QC biases and trends observed during QC reviews
- Reviews sample pending lists at beginning of day and end of day to ensure that all samples are tested within stability
- Daily review of critical result logs and ensure that all critical results have been called-out and documented on the result log and in LIMS
- Submits monthly bench reports [monthly test volume, bench sample rejection, QC trends and biases and safety] to the QA/QC manager for inclusion in the monthly QA/QC report
- Conducts and documents competency for both new and old staff
- Forecasts, quantifies and tracks procurement of reagents and consumables for the section.
- Maintains accurate stock control records and ensure all supplies delivered to the bench are received in SAGE X3
Qualifications
- Minimum Degree in Biomedical Sciences or Recognized equivalent
- At least 5 years experience in routine diagnostic or research setting
- 3 Years supervisory experience
- Registered with Health Professionals Council of Zambia
- Ability to efficiently operate and maintain general laboratory equipment
