Communications Officer.
The Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS) is a Humanitarian Organization established in 1966 by an Act of Parliament CAP 307 of the laws of Zambia as an auxiliary institution that augments government’s efforts in developmental works and humanitarian assistance. ZRCS is part of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). In line with its mandate, ZRCS partners with the Government of the Republic of Zambia in responding to both man-made and natural disasters, including epidemics.

As part of our expansion plans, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Communications Officer to join our Communications and Public Relations team.
Job Summary:
The communications officer will support the internal and external communications strategy, write and disseminate publicity material, respond to inquiries from the public and media, and coordinate promotional events. The Communications officer should be able to think creatively and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Able to write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website & social media content, speeches, and other marketing materials that communicate the organization’s activities, products and/or services.
2. Able to respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews.
3. Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, and maintain a media database.
4. Able to seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required.
5. Able to maintain records of media coverage.
6. Proficiency in design and publishing software.
7. Able to manage conflict as it arises and escalate to management.
Qualification and Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
Minimum of 2-5 years’ relevant experience in a communications role.
Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop).
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
