COMPLIANCE OFFICER OPERATIONS
MUTANDA FARMS – KALUMBILA ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGERJOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Execute the implementation and monitoring of the group’s environmental and social policies, in line with all legal regulations, working closely with the various regulatory bodies and management within the group. Review and update operational policies and procedures, to ensure compliance in all spheres of the business and its impact. Work closely with management, external consultants and other parties to complete and implement impact assessments, while also monitoring continued compliance, with the least disruption to operations. Promote a culture of compliance and sustainable practice, to ensure the long- term sustainability of the group’s operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate and improve the group’s current environmental and social policies, to ensure they adhere to modern standards, in-line with all legal requirements.
Carry out regular monitoring of compliance levels across the group’s operations, and provide reports to senior management.
Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them.
Oversee the implementation and improvement of the group’s management programs, to ensure
compliance with all legal, environmental and social requirements.
Proactively audit processes and practices to identify weaknesses.
Evaluate group activities to assess compliance risk
Provide input and guidance on the implementation of best-practice methods, that minimize impact and risk.
Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices.
Set plans to manage a crisis or compliance violation.
Address concerns or questions on compliance.
Study and keep up-to-date with changes in legislation that may affect the group.
Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals.
Work with management teams on different properties to monitor the management and use of
dangerous products.
Work across all operations to ensure compliance with all requirements.
Develop and implement sustainability programs aimed at reducing the group’s environmental footprint. This includes water management, waste reduction, recycling programs, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Environmental Monitoring: Conduct regular environmental audits and assessments to monitor the impact of farm activities on the environment. This includes soil, water, and air quality testing. Provide training and awareness education for farm staff on environmental issues, sustainable practices, and compliance requirements.
Develop and oversee waste reduction and management strategies, including composting, recycling, and proper disposal of various dangerous waste.
Prepare and submit environmental reports and documentation required by regulatory bodies.
Maintain records of environmental monitoring and compliance activities.
Work closely with local communities, environmental groups, and regulatory agencies to promote environmental stewardship and address environmental concerns.

Proven experience as a Compliance Officer.
Extensive knowledge of local laws and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to oversee and implement various environmental and social programs.
Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards.
Excellent communication skills.

Teamwork skills.
Time management.
The ability to work independently and to strict deadlines.
Attention to detail.
Ability to adapt and work in potentially challenging conditions and situations.
Effective resource management.
Willingness to travel and dedicate time to ensuring the effective functioning of the business, across its various operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
Proven experience in an environmental role, preferably in an agricultural context.
Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulations and standards related to agriculture.
Experience with and ability to utilise modern technology to monitor compliance and promote sustainability.
Certification in environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) is advantageous.
Valid Drivers License.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The role may require outdoor work in various weather conditions.
The role will require regular interaction with a diverse group of people and organizations.
Travel will be required to monitor compliance across our different properties and to attend meetings, workshops, or conferences.
