The incumbent will serve as the lead creator and editor for UNICEF’s Zambia social media accounts and digital platforms, including the website and Internet of Good Things, refining and growing quality content, audiences and engagement. The incumbent will plan and coordinate social media across several existing platforms, while identifying new opportunities to continually improve our presence across digital platforms to deepen engagement with supporters. He/she will also serve as the focal point for partnerships with digital influencers and mobilizers.

Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Chief of Communication or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the Digital Communication Officer will undertake the following tasks:

Digital communication strategy:

• Ensure UNICEF Zambia’s social media channels and website are regularly updated with new content, interactions with followers established and online reputation management performed as per requirements;

• Identify key influencers and potential partners to help amplify UNICEF messages on a regular basis;

• Produce and implement social media plans to promote key campaign/content. Ensure marketing plans including ads creation and campaigns to promote outreach, engagement and followers, are implemented;

• Ensure digital communication plan is finalized and executed.

Content production:

• Support the production of communication products and materials in a timely manner, execute and make follow ups to support country digital communication strategy, regional and global digital campaigns and priorities. This will require graphic design skills and software management to create in house content for different social media platforms.

Campaign development and implementation:

• Provide effective and timely professional assistance in developing, implementing and monitoring and evaluating digital communication campaigns.

Monitoring and evaluation:

Undertake regular monitoring and evaluation activities according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of online communication efforts, including campaigns and social media presence;

• Ensure results and reports, using analytic tools, are prepared and shared on a timely basis.

Nationality

Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

Requirements

Required experience

3 years of experience in digital media communication. Experience working in the UN or international NGOs is an added advantage;

• Technical and creative skills and experience in content creation, web management, copy writing and graphic design, photography, and basic video editing skills;

• Digital media content creation skills especially graphic design and video editing skills

• Excellent oral and written skills; excellent copy writing and editing skills;

• Accuracy and professionalism in working under pressure while delivering results;

• Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels;

• Keeping up to date with social media and digital trends to ensure that Zambia Country Office’s content is relevant and appealing for key audiences;

• Experience with Meta Ads and boosting posts of running online campaigns on Facebook;

• Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;

• Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.), graphic design software, video editing and email/internet; familiarity with photo and video editing;

• Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; Sound security awareness;

• Have affinity with or interest in child rights, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
