EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation PLC (ZAFFICO) is a listed
and publicly traded company whose mission is to establish and manage industrial
exotic forest plantations and agroforestry products to meet demand and
maximize return on investment.
In pursuance of its mission and strategic goals, the Corporation is now inviting
applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the under
listed position:
HEAD – STRATEGY & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
REPORTING TO THE MANAGING DIRECTOR

JOB PURPOSE

To plan and develop business strategies that will ensure growth of the Corporation
in existing and emerging (new markets) to achieve the Corporation’s objectives
as espoused in the Strategic Plan and to develop and manage projects in line
with Strategic focus of the Corporation.

MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Develop business plans for the Corporation to take advantage of its
position and dominance in the sector to maximize its revenue base through
introduction of innovative products.
• Build financial, business, and commercial models to address key business
issues, evaluation of global and local new business models, emerging
technologies, and innovations.
• Develop business linkages with firms and other partners to develop business
relations such as joint ventures in order to exploit business opportunities and
other viable areas of investments.
• Plan for the set-up of the Corporation subsidiaries and advise Management
on investments, acquisitions and mergers of business entities by the
Corporation.
• Conduct annual reviews of the Corporation’s strategy in line with Strategic
focus of the Corporation.
• Undertake research in market trends and wood science as part of the
strategic development of the Corporation.
• Drive new corporate and business opportunities across the organization,
closely collaborating with key stakeholders to identify and satisfy critical
interest group expectations of the Corporation.
• Carry out investment appraisals of projects the Corporation intends to
embark on and advise Management on the viability of such projects.
• Identify, scope and manage strategic projects for the Corporation
maintaining responsibility for deliverables, scope, cost and time, shifting
priorities as needed.
• Monitoring project progress, ensuring that it is progressing on time, within
budget and meets the set standards.
• Conduct monthly reviews to ensure accountability of all project activities
being undertaken by the Corporation as well as the accurate and timely
reporting of financial deliverables and obligations.
• Advise Management on emerging opportunities and threats in both the
internal and external environments of the Corporation. i.e. lead the
Corporation in the Diversification Strategy.

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Full Grade twelve (12) Certificate or equivalent.
• BA Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering or any other relevant
degree from a reputable institution.
• Master’s Degree in any relevant field will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years post qualification experience.
• Reputable experience corporate strategy delivery.
• Demonstrated strong ethical, moral principles, and essential skills for
negotiations.
• People leadership and group dynamic management skills.
• Process, procedure and policy drafting and implementation (team and
process leadership).
• Crisis, reputation, risk, and project management skills.
• Management of key stakeholder relationships and expectations.
• Ability to compile, analyse and interpret data as well as write
comprehensive reports and other documents.
• Communications Skill – Ability to promote ideas and proposals across the
Corporation.
• Financial Acumen – Models, budgeting, projections and reporting on the
Corporations strategic agenda.
