EXTERNAL JOB ADVERTISEMENT –
The Judiciary is an arm of Government of the Republic of Zambia. Its mission is “to provide effective and efficient administration of justice accessible to all people in Zambia through impartial and timely adjudication without fear or favour”.
In order to improve service delivery, the Judiciary intends to fill the following vacant positions as indicated below. Applications are therefore invited from suitable candidates to fill the following positions;

1. LOCAL COURT MAGISTRATES (JSS07) X 3 POSITIONS;
CHILYABUFU LOCAL COURT, MUCHILA LOCAL COURT AND
MWENDA LOCAL COURT
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Presiding Local Court Magistrate and some of the responsibilities will include the following
• To undertake the adjudication of matters brought before the
Local Court in order to facilitate the administration of
customary, civil and criminal justice
• Undertakes effectively hearing and adjudication of cases
brought before the Local Court in order to facilitate the
administration of customary, civil and criminal justice
• Undertakes effectively the appointment of Administrators for
Deceased Estates who died intestate in order to facilitate administration of benefits
• Undertakes effectively the issuance of warrants in order to ensure compliance to court orders

• Undertakes timely issuance of marriage certificates under
customary Law in order to document the marriage
• Undertakes effectively the verification of case records, fees
paid and jurisdiction of the cases in order to ensure
compliance with Local Court Procedure

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

a) Minimum Primary/Secondary Education:
Full Form V/ Grade 12 Certificate

b) Minimum Vocational/Professional 
Qualifications:
Diploma in Law or equivalent

c) Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:
4 Years experience

d) Communication Skills
i) Written Skills Ability to write reasoned judgments and rulings
ii) Oral Skills Ability to communicate effectively in English

e) Other Skills/Attributes
– Integrity
– Confidentiality
– Interpersonal Skills
– Maturity
– Knowledge of Local Customs

f) Must be between 35 and 40 years old for external applicants, and not above 50 years for internal applicants.
