Reporting to the Head of Strategy and Partnerships (HSP), the SPCO will support the day-to-day operations of the organisation People and Culture Unit. The SPCO will be accountable for performing and managing a wide range of HR duties including, but not limited to, tasks in the following functional areas: recruitment, compliance, record keeping, compensation, benefits, payroll and administration.
The Senior People and Culture Officer will be the strategic lead for the organization in developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall organisation strategic Plan and Human Resource Policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Development:
- Support the development of the organization by aligning HR strategies with overall objectives.
- Promote corporate values and nurture a positive organizational culture.
- Promote employee well-being and satisfaction to enhance productivity and morale.
Talent Management:
- Collaborate with HSP to understand and execute HR strategies, especially regarding talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
- Manage full life cycle recruitment processes, including drafting job advertisements, screening candidates, and facilitating interviews.
- Develop new hire orientation programs and ensure compliance with employment contracts and ethics policies.
- Coordinate systematic onboarding and offboarding processes.
Compliance and Policy Implementation:
- Review, approve, and implement office policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Develop and enforce the Employee Handbook and track amendments.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and data management
Employee Relations and Welfare:
- Manage employee relations issues and conduct exit interviews.
- Implement staff wellness programs and coordinate training and team-building events.
- Oversee leave management, including tracking balances and facilitating leave requests.
- Design and deliver comprehensive orientation programs to facilitate the smooth integration of new staff members.
- Ensure new employees are equipped with necessary resources, including email setup, benefits enrollment, and ethics training.
Administrative, Communication, and Compliance Functions:
- Set up HR systems and procedures in consultation with senior management.
- Maintain employment contracts, track renewal dates, and manage documentation.
- Prepare internal communications regarding HR updates, policies, and activities.
- Maintain communication boards and job boards to ensure timely dissemination of information.
- Ensure employee compliance with company policies and procedures, including completion of compliance training.
Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training sessions on policies, procedures, and other relevant topics.
- Assist employees with professional development requests and address knowledge/skill deficiencies through training recommendations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare payroll, reconcile discrepancies, and manage employee benefits.
- Conduct investigations into allegations of misconduct or policy violations as directed by compliance and ethics guidelines.
- Perform any other HR or administration-related duties as assigned.
Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources and/or Administration-related qualifications, professional qualification is a must.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years prior experience in an HR role and practical exposure to various HR functions.
- Must have a strong understanding of HR principles, policies and practices.
- Should have the ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and maintain strict confidentiality and credibility within the organisation.
- Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Should have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision – self-motivated and goal-oriented.
- Previous experience in a multi-cultural, not-for-profit organization is an added advantage.
- Must be a licensed member of ZIHRM.
