Gheewala Zambia Staffing & Recruitment Agency is recruiting on behalf of a reputable client in the Pharmaceutical Industry for the position of Accounts Assistant.
Job Purpose:
The successful candidate will provide accounting, financial, and administrative support by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, performing reconciliations, supporting statutory compliance, and assisting management with financial reporting and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
✓ Manage accounts receivable, invoicing, customer reconciliations, and credit control.
✓ Process supplier invoices, reconcile supplier accounts, and prepare payment schedules.
✓ Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate cash management records.
✓ Support inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, and variance investigations.
✓ Manage petty cash and maintain proper supporting documentation.
✓ Assist with monthly financial reporting, management accounts, accruals, and fixed asset registers.
✓ Support VAT, PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA, and other statutory submissions.
✓ Maintain proper accounting records, filing systems, and internal controls.
✓ Coordinate with banks, suppliers, customers, and management on financial matters.
Qualifications & Experience:
✓ ACCA Level II or above, CIMA, ZICA, CA Zambia, or equivalent professional qualification.
✓ Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
✓ Minimum of 3–5 years’ accounting experience.
✓ Experience in pharmaceutical, FMCG, wholesale, or distribution environments will be an added advantage.
✓ Practical experience using Odoo, Pastel, Sage, or similar accounting software.
Required Skills
✓ Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
✓ Bank, customer, supplier, and inventory reconciliations.
✓ Credit control and debt collection.
✓ VAT and statutory compliance.
✓ Journal entries and month-end processes.
✓ Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
✓ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
✓ High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Preferred Candidate:
We are seeking a proactive, hands-on finance professional with strong technical accounting capabilities who can independently manage day-to-day finance operations while providing administrative support.
