Insurance Zambia Limited is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, result oriented, well qualified and experienced professional to fill the following vacancy.

Assistant Claims Manager

The Assistant Claims Manager will be reporting to the Claims Manager. The job of the Assistant Claims Manager shall among other responsibilities, be to assist the Claims Manager in the management and processing of claims.

Duties of the Assistant Claims Manager shall include the following:

 Manages, organizes and routes incoming/outgoing mail
 Enters new losses into claim system
 Oversee insurance claims based on coverage, appraisal and verifiable damage.
 Advise customers what processes are necessary for claims settlement
 Ensure complete and sound claim settlements,
 Validation of claims in accordance with company policies and procedures.
 Control losses by ensuring repairs and costs are appropriate
 Supervision of Registers maintained in the Department i.e., Salvage, Third Party
Recovery, Theft etc.
 Daily checking of all claims up to Assistant Manager’s Limit
 Settling and resolving of complicated cases
 Checking and authorizing of payments up to Assistant Manager’s Limit
 Checking and recommending of payments up Claims Managers Limit
 Processing and settling of liability cases
 Training of Subordinates
 Supervision and checking of various reports done in the Department
 General Supervision of Claims Department
 Register and handle incoming invoices
 Day-to day claims operations
 Provide quality claims service

Qualifications and Experience required:

1) Grade 12 School Certificate or GCE Equivalent.
2) A Degree in Insurance, an Advanced CII Diploma or equivalent.
3) A minimum post qualifying experience of not less than 5 years, from a reputable company and with a proven track record of hands-on claims processing and underwriting experience.

vi) Ability to hit deadlines.
vii) Good negotiator.
viii) Ability to use own initiative and still work in a team
ix) Knowledge of professional phone etiquette and the ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal employees and external customers.
