CREW HOUSE CHEF VACANCY

SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The function of the chef is to plan menus, maintain the budget, price menu items, prepare food, purchases supplies, ensures quality of service, and ensures safety. Ensure the meals are cooked and seasoned properly and that they are pleasing to the eye.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
• Develop and plan menus and daily specials.
Manage food costing and inventory.
• Maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
• Establish maintenance and cleaning schedules for equipment, storage, and
work areas.
CHEF QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
• Demonstrated knowledge of culinary techniques and practices.
• Understanding of menu and recipe development techniques.
• Ongoing awareness of culinary trends.
• Understanding of health and sanitation laws.
• Understanding of raw materials, quality control and other techniques for the
effective creation and distribution of food products.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of food preparation regulations and standards.
• Excellent knife-handling skills.
• Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• High school certificate.
• Formal Food Production training / Culinary diploma or equivalent.
2 years’ experience in kitchens.
• Previous kitchen management experience.
