Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) is an autonomous statutory government agency established by the ZAMMSA Act No. 9 of 2019. It is charged broadly with three major
responsibilities which include:
Procurement of medicines and medical supplies
Storage of medicines and medical supplies
Distribution of medicines and medical supplies to all public health facilities in Zambia.
In order to enhance our services, we are seeking to employ for the following position:
MANAGER LEGAL (01)
Grade: ZAMMSA 3
Main Job Purpose
To enhance the Board Secretary’s effectiveness by recording minutes of meetings, provide legal advice,
developing case information, evidence, contract arrangements, and settlement options; tracking cases and
supporting trial proceedings.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Secretarial services
Services ZAMMSA Board Meetings by producing agendas, taking minutes and conveying decisions
Handles correspondence before and after meetings
2. Litigation
Provides legal opinion on the merits of a case
Proposes ex curia settlement
Determines dispute resolution mechanism
Prepares Court documents
Procures witnesses and other evidence for trial
Prosecutes/defends matter before appropriate Court/Tribunal
Reviews on-going cases and advises Board Secretary appropriately
3. Compliance
Keeps abreast with the Laws and Regulations of the Republic of Zambia
Ensures that the ZAMMSA is compliant with the Laws of the Republic of Zambia,
international laws and standards
Monitors ZAMMSA’s performance of its obligations under various contracts and agreements
4. Legal advice
Reviews monthly and quarterly litigation reports from external legal service providers and
advises Board Secretary
Conducts quarterly inspection of litigation files in the custody of external legal service
providers and advises Board Secretary

7. Minimum qualifications and experience
Grade 12 School Certificate
Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB)
Advocate of the High Court of Zambia
Minimum 6 years’ work experience
