NATIONAL MUSEUMS BOARD
The National Museums Board is a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Tourism, established by an Act of Parliament Chapter 174 of 1966 of the Laws of Zambia. 
Therefore, the Board is now
inviting suitably qualified Zambians to fill in the following vacant positions:

1. DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
Station: National Museums Board Secretariat, Lusaka
The Director of Marketing will be reporting to the Director General and will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing integrated marketing and communications plans for exhibitions, educational programmes, events, community and development initiatives, to maintain and potentially increase the Museums’ visibility and attendance. Duties also include developing strategies to deepen the Museum’s reach through a combination of traditional and digital marketing tactics, staff management, collaboration with other departments and community groups, actively management of press and media contacts, and budget management. The position is a three-year
(3) contract.

Principle Accountabilities:
• Develop and effectively manage the formulation and implementation of marketing and communication plans in order to facilitate increase in visitors as well as the visibility of museums and enhancement of the national museums brand.
• Manages regularly the conduct of consumer insight research on museum marketing and related matters in order to facilitate decision making
• Manages periodically museums promotion programmes in order to increase awareness and visibility to the general public.
• Ensures effectively the implementation of performance management in order to monitor, evaluate and enhance performance.
• Ensure the implementation of Customer service strategies and systems to foster a customer centric culture.
• Oversee internal and meetings, events initiatives, conferences that are able to attract potential sponsors of the Museums country wide which will in turn affect the bottom line as per set budget
• Ensures effective management of human, financial and other resources in order to facilitate achievement of set objectives.
• Ensure the preparation of reports that show the revenue from the various revenue
streams and Visitor statistics that will enable the board to draw trends and strategies from on a weekly, monthly quarterly yearly basis.
Qualifications,
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate with minimum 6 credits
• Degree in Business Administration, Social science, Education from a recognized university
• Master’s degree in Marketing Management or Business Administration
• 5 years’ experience, 3 years of which must be at management level
• Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Marketing

Experience and Personal attributes:
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills
• Creating business strategies and proposing implementation methods
• Able to write technical and analytical reports.
• Proven experience using best practices in marketing communications (including digital technology), public relations, graphic design, internet marketing, and print industry
• Creation of Business plans, Budgets of schedules and
• Monitoring and evaluation experience of projects
• Proven management/supervisory experience.
• Research skills excellent communication skills, both written and verbal under time
constraints.
• Ability to develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications plan demonstrated through publications in house and for potential customers.
• Excellent project management and decision-making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; individual must be personable and diplomatic in working with diverse constituency and staff.
• Knowledge of regional and national marketing trends for arts organizations/museums as well as internet/website management.
• Self-sufficient in routine office administration tasks, including finalizing correspondence, maintaining calendar appointments, preparing presentations, etc.
• Able to effectively represent the Muscum at public events.
• Must be suited for a fast-paced, high-energy work environment and have strong
organizational skills, including a strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Team player with a sense of humour.
• Computer literate
• Interpersonal skills.
