Position Overview
Royal Academy of Creative Arts is expanding its premier creative arts education to the Zambian market.
We are seeking a highly skilled, technologically adept, and pedagogically sound Piano Instructor to spearhead our Lusaka launch. The successful candidate will initially deliver high-quality 1-on-1 and group lessons online, transitioning into a physical faculty role at our upcoming campus in the Roma/Kabulonga corridor.
This role is critical for establishing our brand as the elite alternative to incumbent institutions by prioritizing international certification success and modern performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Provide specialized piano instruction to a diverse demographic, primarily children and teens from Lusaka’s international school community.
Certification Stewardship: Prepare students for international examinations, specifically ABRSM, Trinity College London, UNISA and Rockschool (Grades 1–8), ensuring high merit and distinction rates.
Digital Instruction: Conduct high-bandwidth, professional online lessons using the Academy’s LMS and digital tools, ensuring student engagement despite potential connectivity challenges.
Market Growth: Act as a brand ambassador during Phase 1, participating in introductory webinars and virtual recitals to build the Roma/Kabulonga student base.
Physical Transition: Assist in the setup of the physical piano studio in Roma, including advising on instrument procurement and acoustic requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Academic Credential:
A Bachelor’s degree in Music (Piano Performance or Pedagogy) or a minimum of an ABRSM/Rockschool Grade 8 (Performance and Theory).
Examination Expertise:
Proven track record of documented high pass rates for your current or past students.
Technological Proficiency:
Experience with online teaching platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, or specialized Music LMS) and a baseline understanding of digital audio/video setups for music.
Local Market Knowledge:
Familiarity with the Lusaka educational landscape (LICS, AISL, ISL, etc.) is highly preferred.
Adaptability:
Ability to maintain professional standards during national infrastructure challenges (e.g., utilizing backup power/solar systems for online lessons).
