TECHNICAL SPECIALIST – TOURISM

1.   Tenure·       Twelve (12) Months
2.   Background·       Through the Tourism Investment Corporation (TIC), the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is implementing a structured tourism investment pipeline to position Zambia as a competitive tourism and investment destination.

·       To support this initiative, IDC intends to engage a Tourism Specialist responsible for pre‑investment project preparation, tourism development and implementation.

·       The key objectives of the Tourism Specialist are to:

–        Develop the TIC Strategic Plan ensuring alignment with IDC’s investment mandate and national tourism priorities.

–        Develop IDC’s MICE Strategy, defining priority projects, delivery models, and investment structures.

–        Identify and support the selection of Strategic Technical and Equity Partners for priority tourism projects.

–        Strengthen IDC’s tourism project pipeline by ensuring projects are investment-ready and commercially viable.

–        Provide technical and commercial advisory services in the development, structuring, and delivery of tourism projects, ensuring value for money, compliance with standards, and timely project execution.

3.   Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe roles and responsibilities of the Specialist will include the following:

  • Development of the TIC strategic plan
  • Development of IDC’s MICE strategy
  • Undertaking of feasibility assessments
  • Identification and structuring of partnerships with Strategic Technical and Equity Partners for tourism-based projects
  • Project preparation and development of tourism projects.
  • Carrying out any additional tasks that may be requested by IDC.
4.   Deliverables 
  • TIC Strategic Plan developed.
  • IDC’s MICE Strategy developed.
  • Feasibility studies undertaken and completed.
  • Strategic Technical Equity Partner (STEP) identified.
  • Technical inputs into IDC investment documentation.
  • Successfully execute quality projects within scope, time, and budget
  • Progress and completion reports.
5.   Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Economics, Business and/or equivalent Professional Qualification in relevant field from reputable institution.
  • Master’s Degree in Tourism Management, Tourism Development, Hospitality Management, Business Administration (MBA), Economics, Investment Management and/or equivalent Professional Qualification   from reputable institution.
  • Minimum of 20 years relevant work experience in tourism development and implementation.
  • Relevant Professional Membership.
