TUNISIAN GOVERNMENT UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB), on behalf of the Ministry of Education and the Government of the Republic of Zambia, invites applications from suitably qualified Zambian students for Undergraduate Scholarships offered by the Government of the Republic of Tunisia for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

Scholarship Quota

The Government of the Republic of Tunisia has allocated ten (10) undergraduate study places to the Republic of Zambia, comprising:

Five (5) Undergraduate Scholarship Places

Five (5) Undergraduate Academic Places (without scholarship)

Applicants must clearly indicate in their application letter whether they are applying for the scholarship category or the non-scholarship academic place.

Available Programmes

The scholarships are available in the following programmes:

Bachelor of Economics – Five (5) places

Bachelor of Management – Five (5) places

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be Zambian citizens holding a Green National Registration Card (NRC);
  • Be eligible to obtain a valid passport;
  • Have completed Grade 12 in 2025;
  • Have obtained Grades 1-3 in English Language, Mathematics and subjects relevant to the intended programme of study;
  • Be between 18 and 23 years of age by 31 December 2026;
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance and satisfy the admission requirements of the host institution; and

Not be beneficiaries of HELSB sponsorship, either locally or abroad.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful candidates awarded the scholarship will receive:

  • Tuition fees;
  •  Monthly maintenance allowance in accordance with the regulations of the Government of Tunisia; and
  • Accommodation in public university residences.

Please note: Scholarship benefits provided by the Government of Tunisia will commence only after successful completion of the required French language training.

French Language Requirement

Since the programmes are taught in French, successful candidates who do not demonstrate adequate proficiency in the language will be required to undertake a preparatory French language course before commencing their academic studies. Application Requirements for HELSB Support

Applicants seeking HELSB sponsorship should submit the following:

  • A typed application letter indicating the preferred programme of study, age and active mobile phone number;
  • A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV);
  • Certified copies of the Grade 12 Certificate and Statement of Results;
  • A certified copy of the Green National Registration Card (NRC);
  • A study plan or motivation statement of not more than 200 words, explaining how the intended programme will contribute to Zambia’s national development; and
  • A clear copy of the NATSAVE deposit slip for payment of the non-refundable application fee of ZMW100.00.

Note: HELSB does not accept cash payments at its offices.

Medical Examination

In accordance with the requirements of the host country, all nominated candidates will be required to undergo comprehensive medical examinations, including tests for:

  • HIV;
  • Hepatitis A and B;
  • Tuberculosis; and
  •  Pregnancy (for female applicants).

The medical examinations will be repeated upon arrival in Tunisia before commencement of studies.

Conditions of the Scholarship

Successful applicants will be responsible for meeting any expenses not covered by the scholarship, including but not limited to:

Transportation costs to and from the airport; and

Any financial shortfall not covered under the scholarship package offered by the Government of Tunisia or the host institution.

Late, incomplete or incorrectly submitted applications will not be considered.

Important Information

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

Applicants who do not receive communication from HELSB by 14th August 2026 should consider their applications unsuccessful.

Students currently benefiting from HELSB sponsorship, either locally or abroad, are not eligible to apply.

Applicants should apply for only one programme of study.

Nomination by HELSB does not constitute admission or guarantee the award of a scholarship. Final admission and scholarship decisions rest with the relevant authorities and institutions in Tunisia.

Candidates who withdraw after nomination may be subject to sanctions, including disqualification from future scholarship opportunities.
