JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor – Shovels & Drills, you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of all electrical tasks associated with the specific outlines in the duties and ensuring these are completed in a timely manner.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Install, maintain, diagnose faults, and repair electrical wiring on Komatsu Shovels

Able to read, understand and interpret all electrical schematic drawings

Carryout Preventive maintenance on all Auto-electrical and Aircon systems

Ability to apply appropriate methodical faulty finding and diagnostic techniques to different equipment and controls systems that includes electronics and electric systems.

Replace electrical components.

Able to understand and diagnose CAN- Bus systems on electric and diesel shovels
Carry out structured routine safety inspections in cooperation with field maintenance Supervisors.

Actively promote full cooperation between the maintenance and mining operation.

Identify opportunities for continuous improving of maintenance processes and systems.

Cooperate with the maintenance planners regarding input schedules and accurate information.

Carry out routine and statutory inspections.

Perform all duties as requested by Maintenance Supervisor

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

1. Diploma or Craft Certificate in Auto Electrical, Electronics, Field instrumentation or Equivalent.
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in Heavy Earthmoving Equipment maintenance. i.e., Komatsu /Hitachi shovels.
3. Able to use equipment schematic diagrams, specifications, standards, and equipment manuals.
4. Must be competent in air conditioning systems for heavy mobile equipment.
   Experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment., Komatsu /Hitachi shovels
5. Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
   Must have a valid driver’s license of class B or higher.
6. Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia.
7. Must have valid silicosis.

ABOUT THE TEAM
The Lumwana copper mine is a conventional open pit (truck and shovel) operation. It’s located about 100 kilometers west of Solwezi in Zambia’s Copperbelt — one of the most prospective copper regions in the world. Lumwana ore, which is predominantly sulfide, is treated through a conventional sulfide flotation plant, producing copper concentrate.
