Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA Zambia) is a faith-based organisation with a Purpose Statement:

demonstrated through humanitarian and developmental initiatives that ADRA Zambia does working (since 1987) in
collaboration with communities, government, other actors, and donors in serving humanity without partiality. ADRA
Zambia, currently works in 16 districts and 6 provinces focusing on Education, Health, Sustainable livelihoods,
Environment and Emergency Response.
1. Communication Officer (01)
Position Overview:
The Communications Officer, is responsible for overseeing the communications efforts of ADRA Zambia, including public relations and marketing. The duties include completing market research, communicating with media
personnel to address organisation news, documenting impact/project evidence and implementing communication
policies and procedures to uphold their company’s brand image.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• A Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field with at least 2 years demonstrated
relevant field experience in a similar field.
• Knowledge of the context to which non-profit organizations operate
• Proven experience, skills and knowledge in website and social media management.
• Demonstrated experience adapting project implementation and activities to achieve targets in a timely manner as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively, instilling trust and confidence with ADRA partners.
• Able to work with limited supervision and deliver on time.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and written and oral presentation skills.
• Proficient in MS word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, electronic mail software
• Fluency in oral and written English (required) and local languages).
• Leadership skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain a database of media organizations and contacts within them.
Manage the organization’s social media communications.
• Demonstratable Website management skills
• Regularly meet with and conduct interviews with media personnel.
• Create and produce internal newsletters for the organization.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with journalists in multiple types of media outlets.
• Act as a spokesperson/media liaison for the organization.
• Write, edit, and distribute various types of content, including material for a website, press releases, marketing material and other types of content that take the message to the public.
• Prepare and manage the organization’s communication budget.
• Designing of organization visibility materials using at least any one of the following (Corel Draw, photoshop, power point, publisher etc.)
Station: Lusaka ADRA Office
Contract: Annual (Renewable on performance)
Other Valued Criteria for All positions:
1. Be a person of high moral character all time and is willing to conform to the mission, values, and beliefs of ADRA
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing skills, presentation, and public
speaking
3. Be willing to comply to ADRA Policies on Child Protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Gender and Disability Inclusion, anti-fraud, Community Response Mechanism and Environment Protection among others.
