Job description:

Overall Job Purpose
The Data Designer is responsible for implementing and maintaining a common data model which end-users can utilize to generate reports to address situational or long-term problems. The data designer is also responsible for assisting end-users with point solution which require data models or complex visualization ​

Specific Job Responsibility
Responsible for the definition and design of data models to support the requirements defined by the users and Business Analyst
Responsible for the maintenance and evolution of data models to support changing requirements
Responsible for all levels of detail of the data models (i.e. conceptual, logical and physical)
Work with the Data Engineer to ensure data models support the ingestion and storage requirements
Own best practices for naming conventions, modelling techniques, etc.
Design of the Power BI models and other semantic layers (where necessary) to support the requirements, as documented by the Business Analyst or Product Owner
Creation of the semantic layer
Work with the Data Engineer to assist in data reconciliation where issues may be highlighted
Work with the end-user to ensure the semantic models support the reporting requirements
Work with Business Analyst and users to ensure that semantic models support the ad-hoc and analysis requirements

​Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or degree related to mining with at least 3 to 5 years experience.
Full Grade 12 Certificate
5+ Years overall experience
3 years PowerBi experience (or equivalent).

Competence with python analytical packages
