We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and proactive Farm Manager specialising in commercial layer management to oversee day-to-day operations and drive higher productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1 LAYER AND POULTRY
FLOCK MANAGEMENT
JOB SUMMARY
The Farm Manager will be responsible for the overall operational, technical, and administrative management of the farm, with a strong focus on the layer flock. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in commercial egg production, including flock health, feed formulation and management, egg collection, and biosecurity, with strong leadership and general farm operational management skills.
2 GENERAL FARM AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
TEAM LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION
Oversee the complete lifecycle of layer birds, including brooding, rearing, and egg-laying stages.
Monitor daily flock performance (egg production, % FCR, mortality rates, egg grading and quality).
Implement and enforce biosecurity protocols and vaccination/medication schedules (with the farm veterinarian).
Manage environmental controls (ventilation, lighting, temperature, litter management, cage systems).
Supervise egg handling, grading, and packaging to minimize loss and damage.
Plan and direct daily farm tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow and high standards of cleanliness and maintenance.
Manage farm inventory (feed, supplements, vaccines, packaging materials, spare parts) and place orders promptly.
Oversee routine maintenance and repair of farm equipment, poultry housing, water systems, and backup power generators.
Monitor waste disposal, manure management, and farm sanitation in accordance with environmental regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS TECHNICAL SKILLS
Education
A bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Animal Science, Poultry Production, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
Experience
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in poultry farming management at supervisory level.
