Background:
The Zambia Dairy Improvement Project (ZDIP) is funded by Jersey Overseas Aid Commission (JOA) and led by the
Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society (RJAHS) with ADRA Zambia as the local Project implementer over a
three-year period (2022 2025). The ZDIP overall objective is to sustainably improve livelihoods, resilience, and productivity of dairy Smallholder Farmers (SHFs) through 1) improved husbandry and extension service delivery; 2)
Enhanced resilience of farmers’ assets through animal genetic gain and 3) sustainable SHF dairy system development.
The project will be implemented in Chibombo, Chongwe and Choma districts.
3. Field Officers (03 positions)
Position Overview
The Field Officer’s role is to carry out the day-to-day running of project field activities. S/he will be responsible for
implementing activities including community mobilization, training, progress monitoring, providing technical
support and reporting on activities in alignment with monthly work plans. The Field Officers will report to the Project
Coordinator.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate in the farmer mobilization/recruitment with the support of extension staff
• Strengthen group governance for improved management of the dairy enterprise
• Facilitate local learning events /exchange visits to lead farmers and projects
• Facilitate farmers training in dairy management practices i.e., Milk Hygiene, Pasture production and Preservation-Silage Making, group Savings and Credit Scheme
• Provide farmer support in herd health management i.e., scheduled vaccinations, deworming, tick control,
etc.
• Report on trainings done, follow up support provided and on-farm production.
• Document success stories, support preparation of progress reports
• Represent the project at local stakeholder engagements
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma in Animal Production, Animal Health from a recognized institution with at least 3 years’ relevant field experience.
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated written and oral fluency in English and local language in the targeted project area

• Ability to travel away from home at short notice and for long periods
• Flexible and able to work independently to meet deadlines
• Assertive, cautious in resolving group conflicts
• Enthusiastic, good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to establish priorities and work with minimal supervision
• Ability to ride motorbike (licensed)
Location: Choma, Chibombo, Chongwe
Contract: Annual (Renewable on performance)

2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing skills, presentation, and public
speaking
