AMSI Zambia Limited
AMSI Zambia Limited is seeking a technically strong, hands-on Finance Manager to lead our local finance function and ensure the accuracy, integrity and timely delivery of our financial reporting.
Reporting to the Executive Finance Manager, the successful candidate will manage a finance team of five and take ownership of the company’s core accounting, financial-control and reporting processes.
This is not a purely supervisory position. The Finance Manager must be comfortable preparing technical accounting work personally, reviewing the work of the team and ensuring that all finance activities are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the Zambia finance team, setting clear standards for accuracy, accountability and delivery.
• Manage the monthly financial close and ensure that all closing procedures, reconciliations, journals and supporting schedules are completed correctly and within agreed deadlines.
• Prepare and review monthly journals, including payroll, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other adjusting entries.
• Prepare year-end financial statements using CaseWare and support the annual external audit process.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and maintain accurate, complete and audit-ready financial records.
• Review monthly balance-sheet reconciliations and ensure that all reconciling items are investigated and resolved promptly.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashbook, bank reconciliations and petty-cash controls.
• Review payroll accounting, salary journals, employee deductions, staff advances and payroll-related reconciliations.
• Oversee the accounting and reconciliation of inventory, fixed assets, depreciation, additions and disposals.
• Ensure accurate reconciliation and reporting of Zambian statutory obligations, including VAT, withholding tax, PAYE, NAPSA and NHIMA.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial reports, variance analyses and reporting packs for senior management.
• Maintain strong financial controls, supporting documentation and clear audit trails across the finance function.
• Identify accounting, control and reporting weaknesses and implement practical corrective actions.
• Support the Executive Finance Manager with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and other financial analysis.
Candidate Requirements
• Fully qualified ACCA or an equivalent recognised professional accounting qualification. CIMA qualifications will not be considered for this particular position.
• Previous experience working as a Finance Manager or in a comparable senior financial-accounting position.
• Relevant accounting experience gained in Zambia, with a strong understanding of local statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated experience preparing annual financial statements and working with CaseWare.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and practical understanding of applicable financial-reporting standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
• Experience using Sage or another recognised accounting system.
• Proven experience managing, developing and holding a finance team accountable.
• Strong knowledge of month-end and year-end closing procedures, balance-sheet controls, journal processing and financial reporting.
• High attention to detail, sound professional judgement and the ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.

The successful candidate will bring energy, discipline and initiative to the finance function. They must be willing to work closely with both the Solwezi-based team and head-office management, identify problems early and drive matters through to resolution.
This is an office-based position in Solwezi, Zambia.
