JOB SUMMARY DETAILS

Hello…an exciting new opportunity has just become available in our HINT, Life Finance area. We are looking to recruit a Head Finance and Administration. This role is based in Zambia, Lusaka.

Report on company results and measure company and divisional performance. Provide insightful information to stakeholders in order for them to make informed decisions that will enhance sustainable growth and keep in line with strategic objectives. Ensure financial reports are submitted timeously to the various stakeholders including Hollard Board and Exco.

Act as an early warning function for matters that could impact the licence and the Company’s ability to continue with business.

Provide accurate and timely input for the preparation of all monthly financial reports and ensure compliance with the relevant laws and standard governing financial reports.

Review business performance and profitability.

Identify areas of concern and ensure that these issues are addressed and resolved timeously.

Prepare all financial board packs required for Shareholders and Exco boards.

Advise business of key risks areas and concerns and actions to resolve.

Regulatory Reporting

Prepare and submit Quarterly and Annual statutory returns to the Regulator.

Ensure timeous submission of all statutory returns – NAPSA, ZRA, etc.

Monitor the key regulatory risks that surround the licence e.g. insurance reserving and other governance and risk management practices.

Prepare annual financial statements.

Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, including annual actuarial valuation

Management Reporting

Prepare periodic financial reports to Management and HINT for monitoring of performance against agreed targets.

Prepare monthly expense variance reports.

Budget, planning and forecasting

Coordinate the annual Budget process and timelines.

Manage the Company’s cash expectations to ensure sufficient liquidity is maintained at all times.

Analyse Company spend and identify cost saving opportunities.

Investments

Ensure Company’s surplus funds are appropriately invested within approved guidelines. Monitor performance of investments and reinvest where necessary.

Submit all required information to Investment Committee for quarterly meetings.

Administration

Manage monthly payroll process.

Oversee all administrative matters including procurement and fixed asset management.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.

Good working knowledge of the Insurance Act.

Good understanding of IFRS applicable to Insurance companies.

Good report writing and presentation skills.

Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.

Good communication skills.

Attention to detail.

Educational Requirements:
CIMA/ACCA/Degree in Accounting

Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 O Levels including English and Mathematics
