The Zambia Environmental Management Agency’s (ZEMA) mandate is drawn from the Environmental Management Act (EMA) No.12 of 2011. ZEMA plays a regulatory, advisory, consultative, monitoring, co-ordination and information dissemination role on all environmental issues in Zambia.

establishment in the Inspectorate department and is therefore looking for competent and experienced persons to fill the positions below:
POSITION INSPECTOR ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (04), reporting to the Senior Inspector.
JOB PURPOSE
To plan, organise, coordinate and provide supervision for Operations Department in order to safeguard human health and the environment through effective environmental management for present and future generations
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12 school certificate or its equivalent
A relevant Engineering (BSc Metallurgy / BSc Chemical Engineering) or Natural Science, BSc Geography or BSc. Ecology or Natural Resource degree, BA Social Sciences or its equivalent from a recognized university.
An additional postgraduate qualification in environmentally related field will be an added advantage.
Must be computer literate.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The candidate must be a Zambian who is a self-starter, goal-oriented person with demonstrated ability to perform to the highest level, with minimum supervision. The candidate must have the ability to
communicate effectively both orally and in writing and possess excellent interpersonal skills and high ethical standards.
Other attributes: Confidentiality, Integrity, Influence and willingness to work long and awkward hours occasionally.
DUTIES
Main duties include:
• Draw conduct annual programmes for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to
ensure clients comply with the Environmental Management Act.
• Plan and draw up programmes for the review of Environmental Impact Assessment project documents.
• Plan and draw up programmes for verification inspections of proposed projects to ensure clients comply with the Environmental Management Act.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of proposed projects to the lead agencies
(Stakeholders) for comments.
• Plan, coordinate and conduct public hearing of proposed projects.
• Ensure timely preparation of documents for the Environmental Impact Assessment
Committee meeting.
• Plan and coordinate annual auditing of facilities based on regulations, license
conditions, Decision Letter conditions and commitments made in project documents
such as EMPs in liaison with the respective zones.
• Attend technical meetings related to Environmental Impact Assessment, write timely reports and liaise with the Senior Inspector to ensure that resolutions from such meetings are implemented.
• Collect, manage, and store data to create a database for information on Environmental Impact Assessment projects to be used in decision making by Management.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of acceptable field, monthly, quarterly and annual inspectorate reports and any other qreports required by Management.
• Provide management and administrative support functions related to the Inspectorate including assistance in the preparation of annual budgets, vehicle usage, tracking expenditure of performed activities in accordance with the approved budget and any other duties assigned by Superiors
• Develop and prepare recommendations for improvements of regulations, standards
and guidelines.
WORK EXPERIENCE
3 years relevant experience in environmental management.
