Energy China is inviting applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and highly motivated Zambian professionals to join our Sesheke Solar Power Project.

We are seeking technically competent professionals who can operate effectively within a major international engineering and construction environment and who demonstrate a strong commitment to professional integrity, safety, quality, environmental responsibility, regulatory compliance, and project delivery excellence.

The successful candidates will work closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Client, Consulting Engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and other technical disciplines to ensure that project activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule,, and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and applicable Zambian laws and standards.

Position: Document Controller / Project Administration & Document Management Officer

Duty Station: Sesheke, Western Province, Zambia

Employment: Project-based / Fixed-Term

Salary: ZMW 8,000 to 10,000 Gross pay

Role Purpose

The Document Controller will provide professional document control, project administration, and coordination support to ensure that engineering, construction, contractual, and administrative documentation is accurately received, registered, distributed, tracked, controlled, archived, and readily retrievable throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

* Establish and maintain a comprehensive project document-control system covering correspondence, drawings, specifications, construction plans, certificates, reports, inspection records, test reports, and technical submissions.

* Receive, register, classify, distribute, and track incoming and outgoing project documentation.

* Maintain accurate document registers, transmittal registers, drawing registers, revision registers, and correspondence logs.

* Coordinate document submissions between the Project Team, Design Institute, Client, Consulting Engineer, contractors, and subcontractors.

* Ensure that only approved and current revisions of drawings and technical documents are issued for construction.

* Control the circulation of approved drawings to construction teams and relevant project stakeholders.

* Maintain both electronic and hard-copy filing systems in accordance with project document-control procedures.

 

This requirement is particularly important because Zambian engineering legislation restricts the practice and use of professional engineering titles/functions without the appropriate registration and practising certificate.

Role Purpose

The Electrical Engineer will provide professional electrical engineering leadership, technical supervision, and construction oversight throughout the implementation, testing, commissioning, and handover of the Sesheke Solar Power Project.

The position carries significant responsibility for ensuring that electrical works comply with approved designs, technical specifications, applicable Zambian regulatory requirements, safety standards, quality requirements, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide professional electrical engineering support throughout project implementation.

* Review and interpret electrical designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. *Coordinate electrical design interfaces with the Client, Consulting Engineer, Design Institute, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.

* Provide technical guidance and engineering supervision to electrical construction teams.

* Monitor electrical construction activities against approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

* Ensure electrical works comply with applicable technical standards, approved designs, quality requirements, and statutory requirements.

* Review contractor and subcontractor technical submissions, method statements, material submissions, and technical documentation.

Inspect and verify electrical materials and equipment delivered to site.

* Participate in inspection, testing, and acceptance of electrical installations and equipment.

* Monitor construction quality, progress, safety, and workmanship.

* Identify technical deviations, defects, and non-conformities and recommend appropriate corrective action.

* Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and construction coordination meetings.

* Coordinate electrical works with civil, mechanical, structural, logistics, and other project disciplines.

* Support commissioning, testing, defect rectification, and project handover activities.

* Assist in the preparation and review of weekly and monthly technical reports.

* Maintain appropriate engineering records and technical documentation.

* Provide professional input into electrical safety and risk-control measures.

* Ensure electrical installation, commissioning, and operation activities are conducted safely.

* Provide timely solutions to electrical engineering problems arising on site.

* Support the Project Manager and Construction Manager in achieving project objectives.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

* Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

* Professional registration with EIZ.

* Valid EIZ practicing certificate/licence mandatory

* Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant professional experience, preferably in power, solar PV, renewable energy, electrical construction, or infrastructure projects.

* Demonstrable experience in electrical construction supervision, testing, commissioning, and quality control.

* Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
