Background:
The Zambia Dairy Improvement Project (ZDIP) is funded by Jersey Overseas Aid Commission (JOA) and led by the
Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society (RJAHS) with ADRA Zambia as the local Project implementer over a
three-year period (2022 2025). The ZDIP overall objective is to sustainably improve livelihoods, resilience, and productivity of dairy Smallholder Farmers (SHFs) through 1) improved husbandry and extension service delivery; 2)
Enhanced resilience of farmers’ assets through animal genetic gain and 3) sustainable SHF dairy system development.
The project will be implemented in Chibombo, Chongwe and Choma districts.

1. Project Coordinator (Dairy Specialist)-01
Position Overview
The Project coordinator will support interventions around, but not limited to dairy husbandry practices, breeding
improvement, Animal health management, feed & Animal Nutrition, and quality milk production. He/she will be responsible for coordination of, and reporting of project field activities, he/she will work closely with both public and private service providers to ensure critical services are provided to the SHF.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate district-level meetings with relevant stakeholders and partners
Preparation of progress reports (quarterly, annual, final)
• Facilitate content development of easy-to-read training modules/IEC materials.
Implement and coordinate project activities in target areas not limited to training in dairy husbandry practices and efficient dairy extension services.
• Establish lead farmers (i.e.demonstrations plots) to increase uptake of climate -smart technologies –
feeding/Fodder production/conservation/ formulation of feed rations, etc.
• Offer Mentorship and coaching to SHF who opt to do commercial fodder production and supply
• Ensure efficient service delivery by local Artificial Insemination (Al) Technicians
• Capacity Building in Dairy Farming as a Business, including promotion of Jersey breed advantages

Required Qualification and Experience:
• A Degree in Animal Production, Livestock Management, or related field with at least 3 years demonstrated relevant field experience in implementation of dairy projects.
• A good understanding and sensitivity to issues associated with poverty, hunger and environment and knowledge of the context to which non-profit organizations operate
• Proven experience, skills/knowledge in dairy management, feed/fodder production, Breeding & calf rearing
• Demonstrated experience adapting project implementation and activities to achieve targets in a timely manner as needed.
• Willingness and enthusiasm for working with rural and vulnerable communities in remote areas.
• Ability to communicate effectively, instilling trust and confidence with SHF and partners.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal, written, and oral presentation skills.
• Proficient in MS word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, electronic mail software
• Fluency in oral and written English (required) and local languages.

Station: Lusaka (PIU) with frequent travel to project sites, including other regions as required.

Contract: Annual (Renewable on performance)
