Background:

The Zambia Dairy Improvement Project (ZDIP) is funded by Jersey Overseas Aid Commission (JOA) and led by the

Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society (RJAHS) with ADRA Zambia as the local Project implementer over a

three-year period (2022 2025). The ZDIP overall objective is to sustainably improve livelihoods, resilience, and productivity of dairy Smallholder Farmers (SHFs) through 1) improved husbandry and extension service delivery; 2)

Enhanced resilience of farmers’ assets through animal genetic gain and 3) sustainable SHF dairy system development.

The project will be implemented in Chibombo, Chongwe and Choma districts.

2. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Assistant (01)

Position Overview

The MEAL assistant will manage the development and implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

Systems for the ZDIP. A strong emphasis is on data collection, integrity, data analysis. S/he will provide technical

input during baseline survey and project reviews, provide leadership for strengthened Research, ensuring standards in monitoring and evaluation processes.

 Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and operationalize the project M&E Plan of ZDIP

• Collaborate with the project team and MEAL Unit to plan, design and implement assessments, baseline, and evaluations studies

• Facilitate coaching and training to field staff and partners in using digital tools for data collection and management to deliver the assigned responsibilities efficiently

• Setup and maintain an information portal to monitor daily milk collection, monthly revenues, Milk Feed

• Price Ratio (MFPR), breed performance, etc.

• Coordinate action Research to monitor Jersey crosses reproductive and productivity performance as scheduled.

Required Qualification and Experience:

Diploma in Development studies/Related qualification with at least a certificate in M&E, Statistics or equivalent.

• Minimum of 3 years of direct relevant experience in MEAL and working in NGOs

• Demonstrated experience in coordinating and working with multiple partners and grants on PME/MEAL.

• Experience in supporting and monitoring field-based programs in the region.

• Experience in managing databases and coordinating evaluations, surveys, and impact monitoring.

Desired Proficiencies

• Innovative, analytical, and solutions oriented.

• A good understanding of and sensitivity to issues associated with sustainable livelihoods, agriculture, andt he environment.

• Excellent organizational skills, including strong attention to detail.

• Proven experience in building the capacity of partner institutions to document and disseminate

information, manage knowledge, measure progress, etc.

• Proficient knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools.

• Strong knowledge and skills in data management and analysis using statistical software’s (e.g., STATA,

SPSS, SAS, EViews, etc.).

Station: PIU, Lusaka with scheduled travels to project sites

Contract: Annual (Renewable on performance)
