VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: PSYCHOSOCIAL COUNSELLOR

Reporting to the Senior Welfare Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing professional psychosocial counselling, mental health promotion, crisis intervention, and employee and community wellness services that enhance the psychological, emotional, social, and occupational wellbeing of employees, contractors, their dependents, and members of Lumwana Mine community.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide confidential individual, family, marital, and group counselling services to employees, contractors, and community residents. 
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop appropriate intervention plans. 
  • Facilitate support groups for stress, grief, trauma, addiction recovery, and family wellbeing. 
  • Develop and deliver workplace and community mental health awareness programmes.
  • Facilitate education on stress management, resilience, emotional wellbeing, suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention, fatigue management, and healthy lifestyles. 
  • Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) following workplace or community traumatic incidents. 
  • Participate in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) responses after accidents, fatalities, disasters, violence, or other traumatic events. 
  • Support affected employees, families, and community members during emergencies. 
  • Manage psychosocial referrals from HR, Medical, Safety, supervisors, and community stakeholders. 
  • Develop individualized case management plans and monitor client progress. 
  • Refer clients requiring specialized services to appropriate internal or external providers. 
  • Design and implement community psychosocial programmes targeting youth, families, women, vulnerable groups, and community leaders. 
  • Build resilience through community education and psychosocial support programmes. 
  • Monitor programme outcomes using agreed performance indicators. 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on psychosocial services and wellness programmes.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
  • Diploma in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling Psychology
  • Degree is an added advantage
  • 2 years’ experience as a Psychosocial Counsellor
  • Registered with Counselling Association of Zambia (CAZ) or Zambia Counselling Council (ZCC)
