Job Description
Zambia Sugar Plc. is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position in the Commercial Department. Applicants should be willing and ready to work from any part of the country.
SALES DEVELOPMENT OFFICER x 1
This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Execute the ABF Sales Service Offering and Perfect Store Guideline (PSG) for Resellers, Stockists, Artisanal, HORECA, Grocers & Supermarkets in an assigned territory.
- Provide input into sales forecasts and targets for the territory through constant tracking of sales performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage outlet level customer relationships in the First & Last Mile, through understanding of the Customer’s business, effective customer communication and collaboration with Logistics and Finance to ensure delivery against commitments.
- Validate Local Area Representative’s customer and call information recorded through the Sales Force Automation tool.
- Grow sales volumes, through application of sales call stories and profit conversations.
- Identify and report on market trends and competitor activity and make recommendations to the commercial team on opportunities and risks.
- Monitor and report on adherence to quality standards in the trade.
- Work with the RTC Manager and Sales Manager(s) in Increasing sugar accessibility (affordability & availability) in line with the Zambia Sugar Last Mile Reseller (LMR) strategy.
- Manage and lead a team of Local Area Representatives (LARs) and/or Merchandisers to implement segmented sales execution standards (VAPP (Visibility, Availability, Price and Promotion), (ABF Sales Service Offering) and PSGs (Perfect Store Guidelines)) across last mile outlets.
- Align the focus and activities of the Local Area Representatives with the sales strategies and plans for the area, to ensure support between First and Last mile activities.
- Assign call areas, customers and call schedules to Local Area Representatives, and monitor adherence to schedules.
- Authenticate Last Mile Reseller’s (LMR) delivery notes to ensure accurate and timely payment of transport claims (secondary distribution).
- Plan sales routes (beat plans) for Resellers and Local Area Representatives and monitor compliance (strike rate) to plan.
- Manage relationships with third party providers (of Local Area Representatives and Merchandisers) to ensure agreements are met, and to manage performance of the teams.
- Promote and adhere to business procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Full grade 12 Certificate.
- Higher Diploma in Business Administration. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Commerce/ Marketing is an added advantage.
- Preferably 5 years’ experience in sales and marketing in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Industry.
- Business acumen; Customer focus; Ability to communicate effectively and assertively; Influencing and negotiating skills; ability to work in a team; planning and time management skills; drive and ability to learn quickly.
- Clean and valid driver’s license; possession of a manual driving license will be an added advantage.
