Traffic Officers

JOB PURPOSE

The Traffic Officer is responsible for controlling and managing vehicle movement within and around the Toll Plaza to ensure safe, orderly and efficient traffic flow.

The successful candidate will monitor traffic conditions, minimize congestion, promote road safety, identify and report incidents, assist during operational disruptions, and support effective Toll Plaza operations in accordance with company policies, procedures and applicable traffic regulations.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Traffic & Toll Plaza Operations

• Maintain orderly traffic flow and minimize congestion.
• Assist with traffic management during peak periods and high-volume operations.
• Ensure motorists follow designated lanes and traffic instructions.
• Support the safe movement of buses, trucks and other large vehicles through the Plaza.
• Identify and report accidents, vehicle breakdowns, obstructions and other incidents affecting traffic flow.
• Assist with traffic management during maintenance works and other activities that affect normal traffic flow.

2. Vehicle & Equipment Observation

• Conduct routine visual checks of traffic conditions.
• Identify vehicles or circumstances that may present safety risks within the Plaza.
• Promptly report vehicle breakdowns, obstructions, damaged road furniture and defective traffic-control equipment.
• Report any other abnormalities that may affect safe and efficient Plaza operations.
• Coordinate with the Plaza Manager and relevant operational teams when immediate intervention is required.

3. Health, Safety & Compliance

• Strictly follow applicable traffic laws, company policies and safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with approved traffic-management and emergency procedures.
• Maintain awareness of pedestrian and vehicle safety within the Plaza.
• Use the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where applicable.
• Promote safe working practices among motorists, staff and other road users.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions or activities that may endanger staff, motorists or company property.

4. Emergency & Operational Support

• Provide immediate traffic-management support during emergencies and operational disruptions.
• Assist in controlling traffic during accidents, vehicle breakdowns, road closures and diversions.
• Support emergency response teams by maintaining safe vehicle and pedestrian movement.
• Assist Route Patrol and other operational teams where traffic control is required.
• Follow all approved emergency response and incident-management procedures.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate should be disciplined, alert, physically capable, safety-conscious and able to remain calm under pressure. The candidate must be comfortable working in a busy traffic environment and communicating effectively with motorists, colleagues and emergency response teams.
