ZICTA ICT Innovation Programme

The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) in conjunction with Airtel Networks Zambia and other collaborating partners is pleased to announce that applications for the 2022 cycle of the ZICTA ICT Innovation Programme are now open!

The programme aims to avail business and technical development support, mentorship opportunities, business linkages and financing support among others to ICT related innovators, startups and entrepreneurs. The programme targets Zambian youths aged between 18 – 35 years that have creative and innovative technology driven solutions to some of the prevailing socio-economic challenges.

The Authority hereby invites applications from interested candidates with promising ICT related business ventures or innovative solutions relating to the following sectors of the economy;

i. Health
ii. Agriculture
iii. Education
iv. Banking and Digital Financial Services
v. E-Commerce
vi. Energy
vii. Environment, Climate Change, and Sanitation
viii. Pensions and social protection
ix. Transport
x. Tourism

All the received applications will undergo a review process that shall be conducted by an independent evaluation committee who will shortlist the top sixty (60) candidates or teams to participate in the programme. The evaluation criteria shall be based on the innovativeness, business potential, technical feasibility, social impact and scalability of the business project.

Programme Package.
The programme provides extraordinary opportunities for all innovators and entrepreneurs to develop and improve the technical as well as commercial feasibility of their projects. The programme also provides opportunities that support the commercialisation or scale their different projects. Enrolled candidates have access to the following support services;
 Business development advisory
 Technical development support
 Mentorship opportunities with identified industry experts and entrepreneurs
 Business linkages with possible investors or off-takers of the participants’ innovations
 Financing support of up to ZMW80,000.00 to support the implementation of three (3) selected innovations at the end of the cycle
 Any other support that could assist with the development of the innovation into a viable business venture
The programme last for a minimum duration of four (04) months.
