The principal purpose of this role is to conduct preventative and corrective maintenance (electronic and electrical) on all toll collection equipment, and traffic management peripherals within the toll plaza; do record keeping of such maintenance and report any serious and malicious damage to any equipment or buildings to head of department.

Main Technical Duties:

The following are the main duties of the role of Electronic Technician

  1. Ensure that all TCE systems are adequately maintained as per procedures and client requirements.
  2. Conduct daily and monthly inspections of all toll collection equipment, traffic management peripherals within the toll plaza, validation cameras and treadle reports.
  3. Analyze and resolve technical issues and respond to queries timeously.
  4. Ensure that all system support requests are attended to and recorded timeously through the prescribed methods.
  5.  Oversee and manage new equipment installations, replacement of old equipment and repairs in accordance with regulatory guidelines and company procedure.
  6. Keep record of all inspections in the prescribed manner and submit reports timeously to management.
  1. Coordinate with operational/technical departments to provide guidance on performance and execution of duties within the TCE environment.
  1. Maintain relationships with stakeholders (internal/external) in order to deliver technical advice effectively and meet expectations
  2.   Monitor and keep record of all TCE equipment and ensure that adequate spares are kept on site.
  3. Assist with procurement of tools and spares as required.
  4. Ensure all health, safety and security policies and procedures are always followed.
  5. Comply with all rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Company.
  6. To perform overtime and standby duties as required.

Requirements

The following are the minimum required qualifications for the role: –

  •  Grade 12 Certificate
  •  Technical Diploma in Electronics (or any related further qualification)
  • At least 3 years related experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • In-depth knowledge of processes and rules together with the MIS Electronic Toll Collection System
