MEXICAN GOVERNMENT EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS 2026
The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) wishes to inform suitably qualified Zambian citizens that the Government of the United Mexican States, through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), has opened applications for the Mexican Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreigners 2026. The scholarship programme is available to applicants from more than 170 countries and supports postgraduate studies, academic mobility, and research programmes at participating Mexican higher education institutions.
SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORIES
The scholarship supports the following programmes:
1. Master’s Degree Programmes (up to 24 months)
2. Doctoral Degree Programmes
3. Postdoctoral Research Stays
4. Research Visits
5. Academic Mobility Programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate students (up to 12 months)
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must:
- Be Zambian citizens.
- Possess an excellent academic record.
- Meet the admission requirements of the selected Mexican institution.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to national development. Be in good health.
- Meet any additional requirements specified by AMEXCID and the host institution.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
The scholarship package includes:
- Tuition fee coverage.
- Monthly maintenance allowance.
- Medical insurance.
- International transportation support (subject to programme provisions).
- Access to world-class universities and research institutions in Mexico.
PRIORITY FIELDS OF STUDY
Applications are encouraged in areas aligned to Zambia’s development priorities, including:
- Engineering and Technology
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
- Agriculture and Food Security
- Health Sciences
- Environmental and Climate Studies
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
- Public Policy and Governance
- Education
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Interested applicants should:
1. Review the scholarship guidelines and eligible institutions.
2. Prepare all required documentation.
3. Submit applications through the designated online scholarship platform as prescribed by the Government of Mexico.
4. Submit a copy of the completed application and supporting documents to HELSB for record and facilitation purposes.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
HELSB does not guarantee selection as final awards are determined by the Government of Mexico.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applicants are encouraged to submit applications well before the deadline.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
22 June 2026 (Mexico Time).
Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
