SOFTWARE ENGINEER – APPLICATION SUPPORT (HO) (1 POST)
GRADE: BoZM5

LOCATION: Head Office-Lusaka

Job Purpose

To provide on-going operational support of ICT systems and applications to enable continuous operations of systems in the Bank.

Main Accountabilities

• Provide end-user application support for all production systems by monitoring and evaluating system availability, operations and performance.
• Analyse, test and recommend application of service patches and product specific application fixes on all production systems.
• Co-ordinate with various teams including: vendors, application development, operations, security, storage and networks teams in the timely manner to provide end-to-end application support and problem resolution.
• Perform system conversion, data migration, integration tests and final acceptance testing in order to recommend promotion to production based on agreed-upon accreditation criteria.
• Write end-user procedure manuals.
• Conduct regular end-user application training for all production systems to ensure knowledge transfer to users in the Bank.
• Create a repository of business and functional requirements and test cases for all accredited systems.
• Conduct on-going regular tests of mission critical systems at DR and ensure business resumption.
• Build and maintain business and technical requirements repository and acceptance test cases for all production systems in the Bank
• Implement system changes and carryout promotion of systems into production system based upon agreed-upon user and operational acceptance testing criteria.
• Keep abreast with changing technologies to review and promote the appropriate introduction of software support tools.
• Contribute as required to various reports for information and decision making.

Qualifications and Experience

• BSc Computer Science or equivalent
• Three (3) Years work experience
• Grade 12 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ Levels (Credit or better).

Key Knowledge and Attributes

• Good communication skills
• Ability to learn quickly
• Proven hands-on Software Development experience
• At least 3 years working experience in Java development
• Hands-on experience in designing and developing applications using Java EE platform
• Object-Oriented Analysis and design using common design patterns.
• Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL, and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)
• Experience with CDI and Inversion of Control principles
• Experience with version control using GIT
• Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Spring MVC)
• Experience with test-driven development
