Duties
Located in the Facility Maintenance Section of the Embassy and under the supervision of the Facility Maintenance Assistant, incumbent cleans offices, general work areas, hallways, kitchens, restrooms, and other areas as directed at U.S. Embassy owned or leased facilities. Uses janitorial equipment and tools such as vacuums, buffers, mops, brooms, buckets, and carts. Follows industry best practices when selecting and using cleaning products and follows all Department safety guidelines and regulations. Supports other activities such as Embassy events, recycling initiatives, and various projects as required.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping experience is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Basic knowledge of janitorial procedures, methods, and equipment is required. General working knowledge of cleaning solvents, solutions, and chemicals is required.
Education Requirements:
Successful completion of primary school is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level 2 (Limited Knowledge, Reading/Speaking/Writing in English is required.. Language proficiency will be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be capable of performing physically demanding work such as heavy lifting, climbing ladders, and frequent kneeling. Must be able to use janitorial equipment including vacuums, carts, hand trucks, buffers, and carpet shampooers. Must be able to utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required by job activities. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must possess good teamwork skills as well as the ability to work independently. Good customer service skills are required.

Agency Benefits:
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Lusaka, Zambia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
