Provincial Health Office, Western Province with support from U.S Centre for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been implementing programs to
improve the management of TB, STIS and HIV/AIDS care services in the Province
since 2006. To further strengthen the programs,
WPHO is inviting applications
from interested persons who meet the minimum requirements to fill the following
vacant positions on contract basis subject to renewal:

JOB TITLE: Facility ART Provider
LOCATION: HIGH VOLUME FACILITIES IN WESTERN PROVINCE

JOB PURPOSE: To manage all PLHIV according to the national guidelines.
Reports to: Facility In-Charge

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILTY (MAIN DUTIES)
Responsible for timely initiation of newly diagnosed PLHIV on ART in
accordance with national guidelines
• Schedules appointments and manages all unsuppressed clients and reports outcomes
• Undertakes routine virological monitoring of PLHIV initiated on ART as well
as monitoring progress on ART for PLHIV using other surrogate markers in
accordance with the national guidelines
• Establishes and maintains a working system to track patients missing
appointments and collaborate with Lay Counselors to undertake immediate tracking of missing clients
• Establishes and maintains a secure filing system which provides for easy
access to files and guarantees patient confidentiality
• Establishes and maintains procedures for adherence support for PLHIV at
10 every visit
• Provides CTX prophylaxis to all PLHIV in accordance with the national guidelines
• Undertakes clinical reviews for PLHIV at every clinical visits i.e. screening for
TB and other opportunistic infections, STIs and Cervical Cancer for women
living with HIV.
• Undertakes nutritional assessment to all PLHIV for appropriate advice and
support.
• Establishes workable client-centered models of care for stable clients
• Fast tracks stable clients and provide 6 months dispensation of ARVs to
clients stable on ART.
• Collaborates with facility staff to ensure that all missing clients are tracked
and return to care within at most 30 days of missing their appointment or
their outcomes known and documented
• Works with facility in charge to ensure uninterrupted supply of ARVs and
related drugs
• Maintains up to date paper based and/or electronic registers
Compiles weekly, monthly, quarterly as well as annual ad-hoc reports as
required timely.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
• Grade 12 Certificate or its equivalent

• Diploma in Clinical Medical Sciences (General)/ Diploma in Nursing from a
recognized institution
• Registered with Health Professions Council of Zambia/General Nursing
Council
Holder of a valid practicing license
• At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in ART service
provision
• Experience as an ART provider at a health facility will be an added
advantage:
• Training in HIV management for both adults and pediatrics and/or PMTCT
and/Management of Opportunistic Infections
• Must be between Age 21 and 55 years
• Ability to write technical papers and reports clearly in English
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and local languages

Other skills/Attributes: Computer literate, Managerial skills. Good
Interpersonal relations, initiative.
