Duties and Responsibilities
Direct the activities of Fleet Officers in relation to transport operations within the company on duties like dispatching and tracking/monitoring of Dangote truck.
Align Department resources (manpower and asset) strategy with business strategy across different business activities (Supply Chain activities).
Develop and implement plans that will lead to efficient and effectives transport operations.
Maintain open dialogue with other units’ managers so as to organize activities that will enhance company’s general performance.
Take charge of investigations that look into customer Complaints with regards to product delivery and other transportation associated issues
Make recommendation for the acquisition of new fleet equipment. Or the replacement of old ones
Monitor the general activities of fleet Officers in the transportation department to make sure that their activities are within the guidelines, safety measures, company and government orders, and Company policies
Develop important Key performance indicators .that measure and show the effectiveness of transport Operations and Fleet Officers.
Drive the implementation of company policies and procedure for fleet management and mobilize drivers accordingly:
Develop drivers payroll input items; including payment schedules for overtime hours and deductibles, for approval’ by the Head of Transport,
Communicants and forward information regarding transport Operations to the Head of Transport. Prepare and submit monthly reported fleet activities to the Head of Transport
In-depth knowledge of current/ prevailing traffic laws and regulations. Working knowledge of software applications (e.g., vehicle tracking and scheduling application).
In-depth knowledge of authentic vehicle parts and accessories.
Good project management and organizational skills
Good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislations relating to the cement manufacturing industry.
Sound knowledge of DIL’s product and service offerings. Working knowledge of inventory management terminologies, methodologies, and approach
Knowledge of Vehicle licensing procedures. Good oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in the use of applicable MS Office support tools
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in any discipline
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Transport Operations & fleet management.
Affiliated to Chartered Institute of Logistics and transport (CILT)
