Employment Opportunity

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) is a Statutory Body established by the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Act Chapter 146 of the Laws of Zambia to provide for the administration of scholarships and the Loan Scheme.

HELSB is offering exciting opportunities to suitably qualified and competent individuals to join the organisation on a contractual basis under an ongoing ICT Project. Applications are invited from candi- dates who meet the qualifications and competencies for the following positions:

  1. Innovation and Technology (IT) Project Intern – One (01) Position
  2. Job Purpose

To Undertake system operations through user support, business analysis activities, ticket management, testing, and troubleshooting of ICT systems.

  1. Contract Duration

Six (6) months.

  1. Principal Accountabilities
  • Undertake timely development, testing, and maintenance of web applications using PHP and Laravel to support business processes and enhance service delivery.
  • Undertake effective frontend development and updates using Bootstrap in order to improve system functionality, usability, and user experience.
  • Undertake timely troubleshooting and resolution of system issues reported by users in order to ensure continuous system availability and operational efficiency.
  • Undertake the preparation and execution of system testing activities throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to ensure quality assurance and system reliability.
  • Coordinate the integration and testing of SMS, USSD, and payment APIs. • Undertake efficient debugging and resolution of application errors under supervision to maintain system stability and performance.
  • Undertake effective documentation of system issues, resolutions, and user feedback.
  • Coordinate timely system deployment and post-deployment monitoring activities.

  1. Qualifications and Experience

Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology,

Information Systems, Software Engineering, or its equivalent.

  • Basic understanding of Business Analysis principles.
  • Experience in ICT systems support and ticket management processes will be an added advantage

Ability to analyse and document user requirements and system issues.

Ability to communicate effectively in English

Strong customer service skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and vendors.

Tact and Diplomacy, Interpersonal and Analytical Skills, Computer literate, Integrity and Confidentiality.
