JOB PURPOSE

To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Overall, establish and manage private and public partnerships in Post- Harvest Handling and Storage (PHHS), Markets and Logistics’ domain with the Private sector.

Inform the FtMA Managing Director and Acting FtMA Zambia Country Coordinator monthly on progress against a subset of agreed upon target indicators, and make recommendations as needed to maximize achievement of outcomes and impact.

Spearhead fine-tuning and mainstreaming FSC anchor model in PHHS, Markets and Logistics spheres including aggregation.

Provide support of PHHS, Markets and Logistics operations including online platforms and work with input providers.

Support Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) of activities related to PHHS, Markets and Logistics pathway.

Lead in designing and refining scalable, sustainable approaches and strategies suitable for PHHS, Markets and Logistics pathway operations.

Liaise and be the link between FtMA and Alliance Partners on matters related to PHHS, Markets and Logistics

Conduct regular field monitoring and proactive troubleshooting visits to FtMA’s FSCs.

Provide advisory support to cooperating partner field staff through the designated Project Manager.

Attend and represent FtMA-Zambia in stakeholder meetings/forums.

Ensure appropriate documentation of the project implementation process and progress

Provide insights and suggestions to the Team as required to ensure project milestones are met.

Contribute to the formulation of the annual workplans

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: University degree in one or more of the following disciplines: Agriculture Economics or a field relevant to Agriculture. An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus
Experience: At least eight (8) years of experience in agribusiness, either in private sector enterprises or in non-profit value chain related projects, with a strong exposure to the private sector.

Language: National Professional: Fluency in both oral and written English language.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated knowledge of agricultural economics; field level experience with smallholders and pro-smallholder SMEs.

Demonstrated knowledge of establishing, mentoring and coaching smallholder Farmers into successful and profitable business entities particularly in aggregation and markets.

Demonstrated knowledge of PHHS, Markets and Logistics spheres with a strong sense of how to deliver success in these sectors

Proven success in building up scalable and sustainable crop aggregation business models.

Ability to work independently, establish priorities and monitor own work plan with minimum supervision in close coordination with the geographically diversified FtMA team.

Ability to work in a team and establish effective working relations with results-oriented private sector partners as well as internal clients.

Solid operational skills including problem solving and project management skills, including ability to work and deliver projects proactively and under pressure.

Good analytical skills; resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, tact, and negotiating skills.

Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

Ability to frequently travel within the country.
