PROJECT OFFICER – REFRACTIVE ERROR AND ASSISTIVE
TECHNOLOGY COMMUNITY HEALTH IN ZAMBIA PROJECT
Zambia Federation of Disability Organisations (ZAFOD) is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified, experienced and
motivated Project Officer to support the implementation of the Refractive Error and Assistive Technology
Community Health in Zambia Project.
The project seeks to strengthen access to and provision of assistive technology in Zambia, including promoting
local procurement and utilisation of assistive products, strengthening awareness and advocacy, supporting policy
development and implementation, and improving coordination among key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the Refractive Error and Assistive Technology Community
Health in Zambia Project in accordance with approved work plans and budgets.
• Support increased local procurement, production and utilisation of assistive products.
• Facilitate awareness-raising activities on assistive technology and promote access to appropriate assistive
products.
• Support policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement on assistive technology.
• Work closely with Government, Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, service providers, development
partners and other relevant stakeholders.
• Support data collection, documentation and analysis relating to assistive technology and project beneficiaries.
• Prepare project progress reports, activity reports and other required documentation.
• Support monitoring and evaluation of project activities against agreed targets and indicators.
• Organise meetings, workshops, consultations and other project activities.
• Support effective management of project resources and ensure compliance with organisational and donor
requirements.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, learning and documentation of project achievements, challenges and
lessons learned.
• Ensure that project activities adhere to safeguarding, accountability, data protection and other applicable
organisational policies.
• Contribute to activities aimed at strengthening human resources and institutional capacity for assistive
technology provision, including engagement with relevant training institutions and stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, Disability
Studies, International Development or a related field.
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience in project coordination or project management, preferably within the
NGO/development sector.
• Demonstrable experience in stakeholder engagement, advocacy and coordination.
• Experience in project monitoring, reporting and documentation.
• A qualification in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Sciences or a related health field will
be an added advantage, particularly for candidates with relevant NGO/development-sector experience.
• Good understanding of disability inclusion, assistive technology and/or inclusive development will be an
added advantage.
• Experience working with Organisations of Persons with Disabilities or other civil society organisations will be
an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to prepare quality reports and presentations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
• Willingness and ability to travel when required.

TENURE
The position will be offered on a project-based contract, subject to the project implementation period and
applicable organisational terms and conditions.
