Justo Mwale University (JMU), whose vision is “to be a leading Christian university in sub-Saharan Africa,” is seeking to recruit trained, qualified, and experienced individuals for the positions listed below. JMU is an institution of high standing both locally and internationally, and is registered with the Higher Education Authority (HEA). Its mission is “to provide quality, contextual, and holistic Christian education that empowers persons to serve the church, academia, and society in Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.” The University is now looking for self-motivated and suitably qualified individuals to fill the following position:

1. JOB TITLE: REGISTRAR 
LOCATION: LUSAKA – LUSAKA CAMPUS

Report to the Vice Chancellor

TENURE
The positions are on Four (4) year employment contract.

JOB PURPOSE
The University Registrar provides leadership and oversight to all aspects of the Office of the Registrar.
The University Registrar plays a critical role in the University and Academic operations by effectively managing the maintenance and integrity of all student academic records, the approved curriculum, the creation and maintenance of course schedules, all areas of student registration and the recording and reporting of grades, compliance with HEA, ZAQA and regulatory bodies, and the establishment and maintenance of processes for the equitable and consistent administration of policies and procedures as they relate to registration and academic record keeping. The University Registrar must provide strong leadership consistent with the academic goals and mission of the institution.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Management of staff and operations of the university
• Supervision of the registration of continuing and incoming       undergraduate students, transfer of credits, and degree evaluations.
• Ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of all academic records of current and former students, and facilitates effective student registration process
• Developing and maintaining degree audit system and certification of students for graduation/graduation clearance.
• Managing efficient use of classrooms.
• Interpreting and enforcing academic policies and regulations of the University.
• Keeping abreast of operational and reporting trends, regulations, and technology solutions for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the University.
• Developing and maintaining accurate curriculum management systems and published in a University Catalog.
• Planning and managing the annual budget of the University.
• Recommending and participating in the development and implementation of university policies and procedures regarding student registration, records, class schedules, instructional space scheduling, residency requirements, identification cards, and graduation requirements.
• Maintenance and upgrading the University’s academic information infrastructures including academic records archives, on-line student database, voice response system, World Wide Web and other electronic databases and information systems.
• Designing, establishing, and maintaining an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives; oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of unit staff.
• Developing and publishing major University information documents including, but not limited to, University Catalogs and class schedules.
• Developing and managing annual budgets for the organization and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses.
• Overseeing the overall operations of programs reporting to this position.
• Representing the University to various institutional divisions as well as externally to governmental agencies, vendors, students and their parents, and/or the general public.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor or the University Council

• Project proposal writing and presentation

WORKLOAD

• Evenings and weekends may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Full grade 12 certificate or its equivalent
• A Minimum of a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Development Studies or Human Resource Management.
• PhD in Administration, Development Studies or Human Resource Management shall be an added advantage.
• Must be computer literate (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office packages and Internet Essentials).
