TAX ACCOUNTANT
Elara Development Corporation Limited, a Chinese real estate company, is looking for a qualified and experienced Tax Accountant to join our team.
Position: Tax Accountant
Location: Ibex Salama Park, Lusaka
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Employment: Full-time (3-month probation)
Number of Positions: 1
Key Responsibilities
* Handle daily accounting entries in accordance with ZANS/IFRS, organise source documents and prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements.
* Manage tax processing, filing and payments throughout the real estate project lifecycle, including VAT, CIT, WHT, PAYE, property tax and transfer tax.
* Review contractors’ and suppliers’ tax compliance, process WHT certificates and follow up on VAT refunds.
* Handle development cost accounting, input VAT carry-forwards and differences between IFRS 15 and tax revenue recognition.
* Manage monthly/quarterly NAPSA and NHIMA filing and payments.
* Monitor changes in Zambian tax laws and preferential policies and advise the Finance Manager.
* Manage Smart Invoice invoicing, data uploads, maintenance and resolution of e-invoice issues with ZRA.
* Liaise with external accounting firms, prepare audit materials and support annual audits.
* Represent the company before ZRA and assist with ZDA, PACRA and CSO compliance matters.
* Reconcile accounts with the Chinese Finance Manager and assist with cash management and budget execution.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Taxation.
* ZICA Graduate Membership required; ZICA Licentiate, ACCA or CIMA is an added advantage.
* More than 4 years of full-time accounting experience in a construction, industrial, or mining company is MANDATORY.
* Candidates without the required sector-specific experience will not be considered.
* Strong knowledge of Zambian tax laws and filing procedures.
* Proficiency in Smart Invoice, accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
* Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively with a Chinese management team and under pressure.
* Must be based in Lusaka or willing to relocate.
