Technical Project Manager
Location: Nchanga, Zambia
Work Mode: Work from Office – Mandatory
Contract: 12 Months & renewal
Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, governance, and delivery of IT and technology transformation projects. The role will work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and senior leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and within scope.
The projects may cover IT infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, networks, data centers, workplace services, collaboration platforms, and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of IT infrastructure and technology transformation projects.
- Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, roadmaps, and delivery strategies.
- Manage project scope, dependencies, risks, issues, and resources.
- Drive infrastructure modernization, cloud adoption, cybersecurity, workplace transformation, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Establish project governance, reporting, and tracking mechanisms.
- Manage stakeholder communication and provide regular executive-level project updates.
- Maintain RAID logs and proactively manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Support project budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and resource planning.
- Manage third-party vendors and implementation partners, including deliverables and timelines.
- Coordinate testing, UAT, cutover, change management, and transition to BAU support.
- Ensure project documentation, knowledge transfer, and lessons learned are completed.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and executive project status reports.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of overall IT experience.
- 5+ years of IT Project Management experience.
- Proven experience delivering IT infrastructure and digital transformation projects.
Experience with one or more of:
- IT Infrastructure
- Data Centers & Server Technologies
- Cloud – Azure/AWS/M365
- Networks & Cybersecurity
- Workplace/End User Computing
- IT Service Management / ITIL
- Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.
- Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid project delivery.
- Strong experience in risk, issue, dependency, budget, and resource management.
- Experience preparing governance reports and executive dashboards.
- Experience working with enterprise stakeholders and third-party vendors.
- Experience in mining, manufacturing, industrial, or large enterprise environments will be an advantage.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum Master, or equivalent certification preferred.
- ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
Important Requirement
This is a fully onsite role in Nchanga, Zambia. Candidates must be willing and available to work from the office.
