Farm Tractor Operator

Role Description The Farm Tractor Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Kitwe. The role involves operating farm tractors and related machinery for land preparation, planting, cultivation, harvesting, and transport of agricultural inputs and produce. The operator will perform routine checks on equipment, report mechanical issues, and assist with basic maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation. Day-to-day tasks include following work schedules, adhering to safety procedures, observing field conditions, and coordinating with supervisors and other team members to complete assigned farming activities on time.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating farm tractors and agricultural implements (e.g., plows, harrows, planters, trailers).
• Basic mechanical aptitude for identifying equipment faults and supporting routine maintenance.
• Knowledge of agricultural practices such as land preparation, planting, and harvesting in large-scale farm settings.
• Understanding of safety regulations and ability to follow safe operating procedures for heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, keep simple operational records, and communicate clearly with supervisors.
• Physical ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or extended shifts during peak farming seasons.
• Relevant vocational training or certification in agricultural machinery operation is an advantage.
• Prior experience in agro-industrial, construction, or mining environments is beneficial.
